As I look back and reflect on 2008, it amazes me of how everything work itself out. We started out the year so hopeful that Chance would get the Police job that he had applied for once before. After many interviews and test, include the psych test to determine if he was mental or not, we waited for the news to come. It finally did, but he still had a long wait to start. He stuck it out at Toys R Us for a few more months. On May 17th, he started working for Vanderbilt. He was there for 2 weeks and then on June 3rd, he started the Metro Nashville Police Academy. It was probably the toughest thing he has ever done, but also the greatest accomplishment. The Academy is not for the weak of heart or determination. He made friends for life. It is truly a blessing for our family. Prayer is an amazing thing and it will continue as he makes the complete circle and begins to go out on his own. He will be working nights and not in the best section of town, so keep him in your prayers.
Kathryn was just 16 months old when the year started and now if seems that I hardly remember a time when she really needed my help to do so many things. These days she is so independent that she does not need (WANT) help with anything. She has taken off with Potty Training (which again is another huge blessing). It is simply amazing to me how quickly she has grown. She is truly her own person now. She is very headstrong, but what 2 year old isn't. She amazes me on a daily basis. I know I am so lucky to be her mother.
Now on to my own personal reflection. This year flew by, even though some days seemed to take weeks to get through. My class for the 07-08 school year was exceptional. If I could have a group like that, I know I would teach forever. This year, on the other hand, has been a real learning experience for me. I thought for sure by now I would have a new job, because there for a while I was looking for something new everyday. I realize now that this has been the most challenging class I have ever had, but I have learned the most about. I have learned a great deal about myself and my teaching ability as well as my students. So as we move forward into 2009, I hope to make some personal changes, but I hope the core part of myself stays the same. It has been a busy year, with many challenges that we have overcome, but I can't say I would change any of it.
I hope everyone had a great 2008 and has a joyous 2009.
